History of our Program

In the winter of 2015, golf PGA professional at Muskego Lakes Country Club, Mark Krause, had a conversation with Special Education Teacher/former college golfer, Amanda Bliske, about what the junior golf program would look like that upcoming summer. Amanda asked Mark if children with special needs had ever been a part of the program at Muskego Lakes, or showed an interest. With this conversation, the program took off!

About the teacher, the nurturer, the lady in charge! Amanda is a Special Education teacher for Kenosha Unified School District. She graduated from Edgewood College in 2013 with a BS in Early Childhood: Regular and Special Education with a minor in Psychology. In Amanda’s time spent at Edgewood College, she played all four years on the Women’s Varsity golf team. Amanda grew up learning and playing the game of golf at Muskego Lakes Country Club with Mark Krause and other MLCC golf instructors. She played recreationally and competitively since she was 7. She spent her high school years at Pius XI High School where she played all four years on their Varsity team.

In recent years, she now has a background in working with children and adults with a variety of different disabilities. These disabilities include, but not limited to: Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder,  Intellectual Disabilities, Social/Emotional/Behavioral disabilities, along with other Learning disabilities and a variety of different health-related disabilities.

How the program works:

Children of 10 years or older, and adults, are highly encouraged to sign up and join us for our 4 week programs to learn about the game of golf! Our program allows for a maximum of 10 participants per session, and Amanda designs instruction to meet everyone’s individualized needs. Amanda teaches the concepts and rules of golf starting with the basic fundamentals of the golf swing and the putting stroke. When necessary, Amanda is able to modify and make accommodations based on your child’s intellectual, behavioral, physical, and sensory-linked abilities. Once your child has a basic grasp on the fundamentals, Amanda takes your child onto the course to play some holes.

Always a positive outcome:
  • Once your child has a basic grasp on the fundamentals, Amanda takes our “new golfers” on the course and they go golfing!!!
  • We offer two different sessions over the summer to accommodate your schedules!
  • Is this program right for your family, would you like to learn more…
  • Please feel free to contact Amanda Bliske at (414) 467-8521 or Abliske85@gmail.com . Amanda will be  happy to answer your questions, discuss any concerns, address special considerations, and see if this program is right for you.
The 8 week session cost to you is only $100 because the charity function that MLCC runs covers the other $100.
