History

In the winter of 2015, Golf PGA professional at Muskego Lakes Country Club, Mark Krause, had a conversation with Special Education Teacher/former college golfer, Amanda Bliske. We were collaborating about what the junior golf program would look like that coming summer, and  Amanda asked Mark if children with special needs had ever been a part of the program.  With this conversation, the program took off.

This program has been recognized and awarded the 2016 Wisconsin Player Development Award

How the Program Works:

Children and adults of all ages and abilities are greatly encouraged to sign up and join us for our 5 week program learning about the game of golf!  Our program is a small group, allowing for specially designed, and individualized attention.  Amanda designs instruction to meet everyone’s individualized needs.  Amanda teaches the concept and rules of golf, starting out with the basic fundamentals of the golf swing and the putting stroke.  Amanda is able to modify and accommodate where needed based on your child’s intellectual, behavioral, physical, and sensory-linked abilities.  Once your child has a basic grasp on the fundamentals, based on needs, she takes your child onto the course to play some holes, scramble format!

About the Instructor:

About the teacher, the nurturer, the lady in charge!  Amanda is a Special Education teacher for Kenosha Unified School District.  She graduated from Edgewood College in 2013 with a BS in Early Childhood: Regular and Special Education with a minor in Psychology.  In Amanda’s time spent at Edgewood College, she played all four years on the Women’s Varsity golf time.  Amanda grew up learning and playing the game of golf at Muskego Lakes Country Club with Mark Krause and other MLCC golf instructors. She has played recreationally and competitively since she was 7, where she spent her high school years at Pius XI High School playing all 4 years on their Varsity team.

In recent years, she now has a background in working with children and adults with a variety of different disabilities. These disabilities include, but not limited to: Expressive Language Disorder, Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Social/Emotional/Behavioral disabilities, along with other Learning disabilities, and a variety of different health related disabilities.

Always a Positive Outcome

Your child will learn the basic fundamentals of the swing, work on golf course etiquette, and make new friends!
